Answer
An asset is a mold / die / other item that is being monitored by the MAD Monitoring system.

A monitor is the device installed on the asset that does the data collection.

This monitor, that is installed on an asset, can be removed or replaced by another monitor.

Not every asset requires a monitor. A checking fixture or end of arm tooling may be added as an asset but not have a monitor installed on it.
