The monitor is the basic tracking unit used in the MAD monitoring system. In general, this unit is installed on a plastic injection mold or a stamping die and used to track cycle counts and cycle times. This information is then transmitted to a gateway, or directly to the server when using a cellular version of the product. Once the information is processed at the server it will be available in the app, the portal, and will also be transmitted to the customer's server is software integration services with forwarding has been enabled.

The monitor can be configured to transmit in various circumstances based on cycle count, cycle times, time periods, temperatures and various other options. The monitor can have its settings altered at the MAD Portal. These settings will appear on the monitor within the next two successful monitor transmissions. This is important to remember. If a monitor is only transmitting once every 24 hours then it could take up to 48 hours for new settings to get down to the monitor without some form of physical intervention.
